There are lots of special features that a real life game of chess simply cannot provide, such as the special themed backgrounds. These range from ancient ruins to the forest and help give the game a bit of atmosphere.
The 3D graphics really pop and gamers are sure to get a thrill as they watch their pieces move around the board. A 2D board also appears on the screen, which makes it easier to keep track of your pieces and plan your moves as many steps ahead as you wish.
For people who have never played chess before or need a bit of a refresher, the rules of the game are clearly displayed. However, the tutorial is rather basic and players who are hoping to pick up a few new tips and tricks during the game will find that this feature is strangely missing.
War Chess tries hard to create intricate worlds for the game of chess to take place in. players will have the chance to guide their troops through the desert and watch an animated battle take place. Of course, this adds a little drama and variation to the game and helps to entertain solo players. The ten different scenarios allow players to choose the style that best suits their mood so that they are more likely to return for another round after their game has come to an end.
Chess lovers are sure to find a lot to like about this game. However, underneath the fancy graphics and cool name, this is ultimately a game of chess.
